The temples are carved from sandstone blocks with the legends from the Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranas Sanskrit. There are over 1000 combined temples, shrines and tombs that make up the temples of Angkor.

The Taj Mahal was built as a tribute to the emperor's wife. The central dome of the building measures in at 240 feet tall. It was commissioned the year of her death and finished over 20 years later. The mausoleum is now the tomb for the emperor and his wife.

The city of Petra was built well before 300 B.C.. It was once known as a trading center and was around until it was abandoned in the 8th century. The ruins of the city was discovered in the 1800s, but they weren't excavated until the 1900s. It is believed most of the city is still buried underground.
